Through the Austrian Academy of Sciences the Austrian National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is affiliated with the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) which provides insight into the worldwide activities in this field. It also carries one vote in the General Assembly which among others coordinates forthcoming IUTAM Symposia and most important the ICTAM Congress held every fourth year.
